I know one person who will be disturbed by the picture here, but many, many more by the title of the post.
"Fast"? What is the woman doing? Surely she wants to ring 999 at the thought of anyone skipping one breakfast and would like to have the words associated with restricting food intake not just banned from use but expunged from the English Language?
Well yes, I do and I would, but it's not that kind of fast I'm thinking of.
Some Churches do encourage fasting during Advent. The Russian Orthodox Church to which my husband belongs does, although the rules are very relaxed and there seem to be a lot of saints' days in November and December which require celebration with fish if not with meat and with wine, always with wine. I'm going along with it because I like fish, and vegetarian food, and wine if I must, and I can always have ham sandwiches when I'm out at lunch time. However I'm not going to take the food bit any further now that Advent has begun even for us lazy Anglicans.
I am going to try to do something that may prove even more difficult though, if a lot healthier and better for my mind and soul.
On the Sundays of Advent I'm going to try to fast from the Internet.
I'm cheating and writing this on Friday (I'd never have even attempted the NaNoBloMo stuff if I hadn't found the post scheduler) so you won't know if I'm managing it. I expect my family and the cats will and will start to beg me to go on-line when I become unbearable and start twitching by 10am but I'm going to give it a go. I've started by not putting any links into this post. That was hard enough.

such a brilliant idea! I must admit the title did grab attention for the reasons you mentioned :) I tried a similar thing thing for lent (fail).
Good luck!
Sorry that you are not on-line but I have noticed that your tortoise is. Perhaps the unseasonably warm weather has woken her up....
